Re: Defiance and Sex

What a wonderful analysis of Stahma's character. I agree wholeheartedly. There were some weak points with this newest episode but the side story about Stahma and Kenya was not one of them. I'm really glad we got to see more of these women through their interactions with each other.

I really liked Stahma's reason for going to the Need/Want in the first place, which was sexual education for her son in order to please Christie. Kenya had the human insight that Christie wouldn't want this, but still, I thought it was a great way to phrase it. Also, possibly this is the first time I've heard g-spots referenced on a show outside of a premium channel and almost certainly the first time I've heard it in a scifi show (a genre which I've found somewhat stunted in the sexuality department).

I too hope that this really wasn't just done for titillation, in the end, and is part of a pattern of exploring sexuality. I'm proud of Defiance even if they do it all a bit ham-fisted, if only because nearly every week they've got something going on that in my experience, hardly ever shows up on scifi tv.
