Tropes

Let's talk about tropes. Both for femslash and women in general.

What are your favorite tropes? Which tropes should die in a fire? What do you desperately wish with all your heart would become a trope?

The trope where the male protagonist suddenly turns evil or a jerk for the sake of femslash must go. Seriously. Lol.

Is that very common? Because I've mostly seen the reverse in guyslash.

Especially common in ST:V. Poor Chakotay.

I remember seeing it with Tom Paris too, when B'Elanna was part of the femslash pairing (don't know if it's still as prevalent as it used to be though). I really disliked it a lot. It was the first inkling I had that "you don't need to bash the canon love interest to get your characters together" works both ways. I'd already figured it out for guyslash by then. Oddly enough that canon female love interest was B'Elanna.

Also common in Legend of the Seeker. (Poor Richard.)

I thought he just becomes "invisible" to Kahlan or is training to be a wizard or something? LOL

God, yeah, I hate that.
