amaresu: Sapphire and Steel from the opening (doctorwho-girlwhoneverwas)

New year, new goals. That's how it works right? So what would you, the people of this community, like to see happen in 2013? We've got the femslash mini meta fest towards the end of April, but that leaves a whole lot of the year left for stuff.

Throw out your suggestions and discuss!

I'd love to see a fest or a theme week or month focusing on members introducing their favorite female characters and/or femslash ships with meta on why the character, ship, or a specific storyline is awesome. I always love reading about why other people dig a certain character and it can also be a good gateway into fandoms some of us might be missing out on because we don't know about the awesome contained within!

I am loving this idea so hard! Might get me a little more involved...

Thirded, I could definitely get behind this.

Oh, I love [personal profile] mammothluv's idea! I joined this community (like yesterday, actually) in part because I want to be more fannish about lady characters--for me, that means writing more woman-centric fanfic--and it'd be great to read about other people's favorite lady characters, and use that opportunity to get into fandoms with cool ladies in them!

I'm just glad to see that this comm isn't dead, and I look forward to reading more fem meta! I like the discussion prompt posts that went up last year--it'd be fun to keep doing something like that.

Something involving recs, maybe? Or an open week where people can post masterlists of the stuff they've written that's women-centric? Hmm.

I like both sets of suggestions! Though I'd like the option of a fandom manifesto/intro rather than a character or pairing specific one since I tend to multiship in canons with LOTS of femslashiness :)

I love the suggestions here! I think some sort of month/fest/theme-type-thing where people introduce their favorite female characters, femslash ships, friendships, female-centric canons, etc. would be really great! And maybe good to some discussion flowing? I also really like the idea of recs too, like short recs list of interesting female-character-related meta we find/have found? Though I have no idea how sustainable that is (for example, I'm terrible at bookmarking and keeping track of interesting stuff I saw even just last week...)

Small fandom week? I can think of a few tiny, woman-friendly canons I'd like to see more people talk fannishly about, and I'm sure everyone else can, too. Not all femslash has to be Buffy or Xena, right?

Or crossovers. It's something I notice with fandoms that have few female characters, those characters are ripe for crossovers between shows/movies with similar genres and backgrounds. Catwoman/Lara Croft comes to mind. :)
